A bespoke website build for a weddings and events pianist, designed to exhibit classical timelessness

Antony Perkin is a wedding and events pianist and tutor. His website needs to provide a positive first impression to prospective clients, conveying a sense of understated quality and dependability that matches the characteristics of his services.

Classical sophistication

Heron Web produced a bespoke design that combines classical elements with a clean layout and expansive empty space. Particular attention was directed to the presentation of text. It was important for information to be easy to find and consume, as this helps to establish trust and authority ahead of making an enquiry. The text style also contributes to the general sense of sophistication.

The base colour palette is muted to reflect the contrast inherent in piano keys, but bright highlights distinguish the essential weddings, events, and tuition sections. These are presented at the bottom of each page, followed by a slowly transitioning carousel of recent testimonials. The presence of the testimonials further endorses Tony's credibility without distracting from the theme.

The design is fully responsive to smaller screen sizes. Many customers discover the site from a mobile search so an unimpeded view is necessary on all kinds of device. The site scales equally well up to the very largest monitors, bounded by the central column that guides viewers towards the main content.

Distinguishing accents

Subtle accents, animations, and micro-interactions permeate the site to engage visitors and support the intended perception of careful quality. The piano illustration in the header grows as the user scrolls down, buttons fill with colour when they're used, and elements fade into place as pages load.

Establishing correct timings for these effects was critical: the result should feel carefully considered, without frustrating users by unnecessarily slowing the browsing experience.

Repertoire samples

The website provides a selection of recordings from Tony's repertoire. These excerpts allow visitors to familiarise themselves with the manner of Tony's performance and the diversity of styles he offers. Playing a sample displays a simple overlay at the bottom of the screen that contains the playback controls. Users can continue browsing while they listen to their selected piece.

Technical implementation

This project was developed as a static site to maximise page load performance. Content is pre-rendered to HTML so navigations occur almost instantly, eliminating artificial browsing restrictions.

The static approach means the experience's speed is determined by its animation durations, rather than any technical limitations. This provides maximum control over user impressions. The integrated contact form is the only dynamic element; form submissions are sent to an external service.

This website was a custom build crafted by Heron Web to a unique design. We can undertake similar projects for other organisations and individuals seeking an equally distinctive online presence. Please contact us today to discuss your requirements.
